The GeeksWeekly Show #49 - In a Middle of an Argument

So, we sparked off with an argument. Pretty heated one about Apple's iPhone against the HTC Touch. Before we continue with that, let's get on with the news.

Here's a tip for all Windows Vista users, create a shortcut for Shutdown and Restart. Here's how:
  • Right click on the desktop, select New, select Shortcut.
  • In the wizard window, type in these codes
  • shutdown.exe /s /t 00 or shutdown.exe /r /t 00
  • The /s stands for Shutdown, where as /r stands for restart.
Should you want the Power Button on the Vista Start Menu, here's how you can do it:
  • Click on the Start Menu or the Windows Orb on your taskbar.
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Go to Hardware and Sound (if you have your Control Panel in Grouped View)
  • Go to Power Options
  • Click on Change plan Settings for the Power Plan that you are using.
  • Click on Change advance power settings
  • A window should pop up.
  • Extend the Power Buttons and lid menu
  • Extend the Start Menu power button menu
  • From there on, you can change how the power button in the start menu behave. Either Sleep, Hibernate or Shut Down
Here's the news!
  • Faulty notebook Batteries. Remember to check with your computer vendor about the Recall. Better be safe than regreting it.
  • Opera Browser not allowed onto iTunes App Store? Will this kill Apple's iPhone? Having a platform that is absolutely closed?
  • Whispers about new MacMini and iMac. New Mac Pro too!
  • Ubuntu is out in the wilds. We will be messing around with it to see what's new and what the new UI brings to new Linux adopters.
  • Google is now an OpenID provider. Well, not exactly.
As an extra, we resumed our argement on the podcast, and talked about the Apple iPhone OS and Windows Mobile.
